San Miguel de Allende is a charming little colonial town with colorful streets, a romantic vibe, and tons of character. We chose it because it pairs perfectly with Mexico City, just a three-hour bus ride away. We recommend visiting both cities if you can; to get a mix of history, street food and vibrant city life (a.k.a. traffic and car horns ;) ) as well as a slower, more intimate feel. San Miguel holds a special place in our hearts, as it’s the first place we ever traveled to together and said the L word to each other (just like a telenovela!). The town truly embodies Mexican culture, with so many beautiful shops, incredible Mexican art, and an amazing food scene. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect to settle into for a long weekend.
